Coach Rene's team succumbs to Lavender Menace

From 365gay.com

(East Lansing, Michigan) More than a dozen people in purple T-shirts with the slogan “Lavender Menace” were scattered throughout the stands Thursday night as Penn State met Michigan State in women's basketball.

The demonstrators were protesting against Penn coach Rene Portland who is accused of engaging in a reign of terror over her student athletes frequently resorting to anti-lesbian abuse.

According to my PSU alumni sources, Coach Portland has been a notorious homophobe since way back in the day.  It is one of those dirty little secrets that everyone knew.

I went to a small university as an undergrad so maybe I just cannot grasp this big school mentality of absolving anyone athletic related of the most serious outrages.  Every single PSU alumnus, especially WOMEN, should be witholding donations until the University does something about their coaches' behavior.

Penn State is not a good place to be a female student these days, athlete or not.
