Vote for PghLesbian as Favorite GLBT News Publication

Each year, the regional Gay Life Newsletter acknowledges the best of the community through popular vote.  I was honored to be unexpectedly named “Lesbian of the Year” in 2010.

This year, our blog is the first local blog to be included in the “GLBT News Publication” category. The newsletter publishers have informed me that they are going to create a new GLBT Social Media category in 2013 which is great! I think the strengths/contributions of social media are similar but distinct from traditional media outlets.

So, please vote for us to get through the semi-finalist stage. It is a pretty simple process.

1. Send an email to gaylifenewsletter@yahoo.com

2. In the subject line or body, write “Category 21 GLBT News Publication”

3. You can pick one category (like a blog!) or you can rank the nominees on a scale of 0 – 4. (the link above explains it all)

That’s it. Semifinalist votes are through March 10, 2012. Then the finalists will be announced and the final votes accepted.

There are two dozen categories – you can vote for LGBT person of the year, lesbian of the year, bar of the year, etc.

I’ll be honest. I’d like to win not just because of the personal validation. I’d like to win because I think blogging is important and we make a contribution as a local LGBT blog that is unique and significant. We’ll never have the traffic volume to make it to BlogHer or the major LGBT blogging awards. And it actually means more that local folks read us and think enough of us to nominate/vote for us.
