Victory – Pirates to Debut “It Gets Better” Video on Friday Night

Remember last year when I sent you a link to this petition asking for your support to encourage the Pittsburgh Pirates to make a video for the “It Gets Better” project?

You did it. The Pirates made a very excellent video. They debuted it to the youth at the GLCC Friday Night program and it was very well received.

You can see it for yourself this Friday at PNC Park during pregame. It will be on the big screen at 6:30 prompt. Tickets for the GLCC Youth night are $15 and can be obtained by contacting Chaz Kellem  412.325.4731 or chaz.kellem@pirates.comand he can WILL CALL the ticket orders.

There’s so much more. The Pirates are teaming up with the GLCC and GLSEN Pittsburgh for an ongoing effort to educate about bullying. They are hosting the ENTIRE youth program for this premiere night including families and siblings. I can’t even describe it now except to assure you that no other professional sports team has gone this far to reach out to LGBTQ youth.

I am so proud to be from Pittsburgh. I hope you will come to the game to support everyone involved. If you cannot, I will post the link to the video when its uploaded to the IGB website. I hope you will tweet about it and facebook about it.

I also hope that if you find this exciting – you will get involved with the GLCC and GLSEN. The video is a tool – the relationship with young people is a key.
