Pittsburgh, PA – February 20, 2013 –A selection of talented performers from the Renaissance City Choirs, Pittsburgh’s only gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and allies choral group, will showcase the music of Elton John, Patti Labelle, Queen, Michael Jackson, and other legendary divas and divos at their upcoming Cabaret, So You Think You’re a Diva? The shows will be held at East Liberty Presbyterian Church at 116 South Highland Avenue on March 1st and 2nd at 7:30pm.
Our Divas and Divos are bigger than life. The music that they performed or are performing is likewise big, with open arms that embrace us and give voice to our own experiences. This Cabaret will honor the contributions of some of our musical heroines and heroes and the music that they bring to the world.”I’m delighted to be involved with this diverse and dynamic cast of characters,” remarks the show’s director, Sandy Vansuch, who has been involved with Renaissance City Choirs since 2004. “They’re having fun and you will, too!”
“This is going to be such a fun show! The talent level and wit of the performers is simply delightful,” adds Jeffry Blake Johnson, who joined RCC this year as Artistic Director. “The music we have chosen is so catchy that I find myself singing through the show all week long.” The audience will also enjoy renditions of favorites from Liza Minnelli, Etta James, Doris Day, Adele, Barry Manilow, and Bette Midler, presented in an entertaining talent contest format.
Tickets are $20 each ($10 for students) and available online or at the door prior to the performance. Light refreshments and beverages will be available for purchase at the show.
