March is Bisexual Health Awareness Month. There have been several important media pieces lately that might interest you.
Chronologically:
- New York Times piece “The Scientific Quest to Prove Bisexuality Exists” which has some troubling elements
- A response piece on Autostraddle which delves into those elements “The Journalistic Quest to Write an Accurate Story About Bisexuality“
- From Think Progress, Zack Ford (PA native) wrote “Why Affirming Bisexuality is a Public Health Concern“
- And today a tongue in cheek piece “The Scientific Quest to Prove the New York Times Exists“
This Sunday, a new program kicks off at the GLCC. The eBIcenter Project is spearheaded by two members of the community who want to connect people in local fluid, pan, bi and queer communities. They will meet at 2 PM and then monthly for a tea that is open to all interested persons. And they are putting together an event at Cattivo in April. For more information, visit the GLCC Calendar.
eBIcenter is word play on the word “epicenter” – the project founders selected the term.
For more information on this new project, please email info@glccpgh.org or call 412-422-0114. Or stop by Sunday at 2 PM – 210 Grant Street Downtown Pittsburgh.
