Pittsburgh Dyke and Trans March Set for Sat June 21 in Bloomfield

Pittsburgh Dyke March

Join us for the 2014 Dyke and Trans March which will once again take place in Bloomfield. We’ll meet at Morrow Triangle (Baum at Liberty) to make signs, listen to our guest speakers and then take to the streets.

The route is a little over 1 mile in length (Liberty to Taylor, Right on Taylor and then Right onto Friendship Avenue. Friendship into the park.) There is at least one shorter route to get to the park, but that street will not be closed so you will have to use the sidewalk. We plan to have a van available for those who want to participate and need an assist.

Please feel free to bring your kids and your dogs (on leash.) And bring a dish to share at the potluck picnic after the March.

The fierce and fabulous Joy KMT will be speaking before the March.

Agenda

2 PM Meet and Greet at Morrow Triangle
2:30 PM Speakers
3 PM March begins
Potluck picnic in Friendship Park at the end of the March

If you want to volunteer send us a DM – we need all sorts of help behind the scenes and the day off.

Why March? Dyke and Trans Visibility is personal and political. As trans people and womyn loving womyn we are claiming this loving and political space, not only to celebrate the fierce radical spirit of the Stonewall Riots, but to remind ourselves that queers are, and will continue to be, a revolutionary force to be reckoned with. How we organize and celebrate with one another matters, our love matters, our art matters, and our queer lives matter.
