Some news from Cleveland regarding the December 2013 murder of 22 year old Brittany Kidd-Stergis.  The man responsible for her death pled guilty on Friday and faces a life sentence. From Cleveland.com

A 20-year-old man could spend life in prison after he pleaded guilty Friday to the December slaying of a transgender woman outside a West Side public housing complex.

A Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court judge sentencedDelshawn Carroll to 18 years to life after he admitted to gunning down 22-year-old Brittany Stergis inside her Buick at the Lakeview Estates apartments on West 25thStreet Dec. 6.

Police found Stergis dead, with a gunshot wound to the head, about 2:30 a.m.

While the motive for the shooting remains unclear, prosecutors said Carroll and Stergis had a past together.

I hope this brings some closure for Brittany’s family and friends as well as the trans community in Ohio which lost 3 sisters in an 18-month period. One case remains unsolved – the murder of Betty Janet Skinner. (h/t Transgriot) Skinner was confined to her bed where her body was found so it is puzzling to me that it is taking so long to resolve, but let us hope that the continue pressure by Cleveland’s trans community will keep the investigation going.

It is a terrible feeling to celebrate someone’s potential life imprisonment, but I am relieved that another violent hater is off the streets.
