As I’ve shared, I’m now an Artist in Residence with Most Wanted Fine Art (MWFA) gallery in Garfield. It is a terrific community engagement project that supports public art throughout the region. I was very happy to connect the gallery with an opportunity to secure sustainable funding through a partnership that focuses on fun things – wine and art!
Pittsburgh Tours and More has added a series of wine tours to their growing repertoire of regional shuttle tours which designate a portion of each ticket sale to a community group or non-profit. The PA Winery Tours will benefit the MWFA artists in residency program.
Pa Winery Tours kicks off Feb. 14 with a signature Pittsburgh Wine Tour, entitled Day of Wine & Roses. The shuttled tour includes a tasting class at Dreadnought Wines, and samples from several locations, including Pittsburgh Winery. Sweet treats and giveaways are also included. The tour runs noon to 4:30 PM starting at Pennsylvania Wine Cellars in Station Square. The ticket price is $65 for one guest and $120 for two.
“We are thrilled with the response the tours have received, and have developed these new tours based on the interest of our customers,” noted Sherris Moreira, director of both Pittsburgh Tours & More, which also includes PA Brew Tours. “We’ve also had a great response by Pittsburgh nonprofits interested in partnering with our new tours.”
So you can enjoy an afternoon sampling wine, learning about local vineyards and supporting local public art (including moi!)
“Often financial barriers and lack of support can snuff out artistic vision and talent before it has even a chance of coming to fruition,” said Nina Sauer, co-owner of Most Wanted Fine Art, along with her husband Jason. “The resident artist program provides that important network of support, along with experience and expertise to help the artist reach the next level. We’re excited to partner with Pittsburgh Tours & More.”
MWFA has been doing great things to support me as a fledgling artist. They make themselves totally available, they support the content I create even now even before I’ve launched my project and they are a constant source of encouragement. They are also helping me pursue the funding I need for my own project. I was very happy to have a chance to support their work by introducing them to Pgh Tours and More.
I’ve worked with Pgh Tours and More to develop another tour series that I’ll write about later, as well as the Fish Fry Friday tours. And I took one of my all-time favorite adventures going “Behind the Screams” with Scarehouse last fall. I think partnering these tours with community groups is a great idea. It creates a nice opportunity for everyone to give back to the development of a healthier, vibrant region. I hope you’ll consider a tour either for yourself or as a gift.
Besides the new tours, Pittsburgh Tours & More is also offering its original ones, many on Valentine’s Day weekend. These include The Steel City Sampler: Rust Belt Culinary Tour (Rivers of Steel); Lights, Camera, Pittsburgh! The Official Pittsburgh Film Office Movie Tour (The Pittsburgh Film Office); Flavor of Pittsburgh: Pittsburgh’s Popular Food Culture Tour (Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank) as well as sister-division PA Brew Tours, The Brews & The Bees Brew Tour (Cystic Fibrosis Foundation via Brewing up a Cure).
