How To Sign Up For Toys for Tots in Western PA – 2015 Edition

ToysForTotsLogo

I’m actually late this year with this annual blog post. Finding information on Toys for Tots programs can be time-consuming and challenging. My work with the AMPLIFY project has expanded my awareness of how difficult it can be to access programs the further your family lives from an urban hub. My hope is to add a little more dignity and ease to this process by providing this information. I’ve also tried to include all 26 counties participating in AMPLIFY.

As I read through the various descriptions, I was a little shocked at how the process has become less dignified. Not only do the “rules” vary from region to region, but many sites are now requiring families to bring 1 black trash bag  per child to transport their toys. That may be practical, but it hurts to read. Perhaps asking people to bring bags to transport their items could be phrased as a gentle reminder rather than using a reference to trash or garbage.
