Seeking Candidates Interested in Our LGBTQ Political Q&A

Pittsburgh Lesbian Correspondents blog has been following local, statewide, and federal politics from our earliest days in 2005. Over the past few years, we’ve amped up our campaign coverage with a new “Candidate Q&A” feature highlighting candidates on all levels of government. I invite you to take a look at our 2018 primary Q&A series which remain pretty popular, to get a sense of how we structure the questions: https://www.pghlesbian.com/tag/political-qa/

I’m willing to publish the Q&A with any candidates with Pennsylvania ties as long as they are firmly pro-choice and pro-LGBTQ. The Q&A itself is typically about 10 questions plus demographics. Most are universal across candidates, but I do tailor a few to each candidate. I do not edit the responses. There are no restrictions on length and it is fine to include campaign links (or other links) Candidates do not need to identify as LGBTQ.

This is not an endorsement, but it is an opportunity to introduce your candidate to a progressive readership. Our readers typically breakdown this way – 50% are between ages 25-44, about 62% identify as women (please note that most analytics do not account for or allow for nonbinary identities), 37% of our readers come from Pennsylvania outside of Pittsburgh with significant representation from New York, Ohio, DC, Texas, Florida, California, and Virginia. And while most of our Pennsylvania readers are tied to Pittsburgh, we draw many folks in from Philadelphia, Harrisburg and many rural communities.

If you’d like to participate, please reach out to me at pghlesbian at gmail dot com with your campaign information and I will put together a Q&A for your candidate. This will be published on a rolling basis as they are returned to me through the primary election.

I have sent out a few feelers. Sadly, one of the email addresses bounced which is not a stellar start to any campaign. But we hold out for great things this election cycle …  Please share this with candidates whom you support and ask them to follow up if you think it is important for them to engage our readership.

If you value the Q&A’s we collect and publish, consider investing in our work. We don’t believe in limiting content to those who can pay, but I do write a quirky monthly letter to donors.
