The Pittsburgh MasQue ProjecT still needs your help. We connect the trans and queer community with face masks throughout Western Pennsylvania. This includes maintaining a vendor list and direct distribution on a monthly basis thanks to generous donors.
Why do trans and queer households need a dedicated facemask project? Discrimination. I suggest you read this piece by Kate Sosin at The 19th to understand the ways in which discrimination manifest in situations like this.
Thanks to the Elsie Hillman Foundation, we have access to a 100% match on donations. This will cover operating costs well into 2021. Costs include postage, supplies, fabric and elastic, printing, the usual things with community level project.
As of today, we need to raise $3000 in real dollars to tap into the match and reach our goal ASAP. The funds will not be released until we end the drive. This is where your $5 or $10 investment can really pay off to help your trans and queer neighbors (and their households.)
The Pittsburgh MasQue ProjecT was co-founded by TransPride Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh Lesbian Correspondents in partnership with our fiscal sponsor, the Pittsburgh Equality Center.
