Black Trans Woman Danny Henson, 31, Murdered in Baltimore

Via Facebook

Reporting on another homicide involving a Black trans woman, the second report today.  Her name was Danny Henson and she also went by Pryynce Daniel. She was killed Tuesday, May 4, 2021 in Baltimore, Maryland.

Around 2:30 a.m., Baltimore Police responded to a home in the 3100 block of Williston Street for an unresponsive person. When they arrived, police found a body.

Family identified Henson as the victim.

Danny’s brother, Michael, attended a vigil for them held Thursday 6 and confirmed their identity. as did Baltimore Safe Haven.

Michael said Danny was transitioning to become a woman and believes Danny got into an altercation with someone they knew and possibly had a relationship with.

Family friend Ashley Evang spoke about the impact of violence targeting the Black community, carefully including Black trans neighbors.

“We need to stop having all these black men, black women, black trans people dying and no justice being found,” Evang added.

Danny is the twenty fourth trans, nonbinary or gender nonconforming person reported killed in 2021. Twenty-two of these neighbors have been BIPOC. She is the 18th victim who identified as Black.  In total, there have been twenty-four murders or suspicious deaths in the first 122 days of 2021, an average of one death every 5.2 days. 16 of these victims were under the age of 30. So far. That we know of as many deaths go unreported or unacknowledged.  Note – in this summary, I include suspicious deaths that as you can read below are often later confirmed homicides.

Danny was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She attended the University of Maryland. A day before her death, she posted “Please pray for me.”

Rest in power, Danny. You saw a terrible future but still opted to live life with enthusiasm and love. Your friends and family miss you dearly.

May your memory be a revolution.
