Cat Lady Mean Girls

“I’m not wearing a fucking mask to make other people feel better if they don’t want Covid then they should go get the vaccine.”

So this woman runs a local rescue called Save Our Strays. When she wanted to volunteer with our TNVR event, she kept insisting she wouldn’t wear a mask even though we have medically fragile volunteers and younger children helping. So I told her no thank you – masks are non-negotiable.

When today I said we couldn’t do #ManchesterCatTrap – a lot of great people stepped up to help. This woman, however, asked me to give her the money we raised to use for her own TNVR work. She didn’t offer to do the work, she wanted the money.

I said no. Not only is the money being used as designated thanks to helpful people, but her refusal to comply with a reasonable request to wear a mask was not a good sign of her stewardship skills.

Plus who does that? Who says ‘give me the money’?

So she sent me this response to my hard no.

“Oh I heard it was still going on but I was going to help but fuck you.”

“Sue ,
I’ve never met you not one day in my life, we never were friends. And it wasn’t about the money it’s about the cats & YOu bailing.  My bank account is full. And again I’m not wearing a fucking mask to make other people feel better if they don’t want Covid then they should go get the vaccine.”

Is this someone you feel good about working in your neighborhood? Ableist? Mean? Taking advantage of my desperation to take nearly $3000 for her group? Anti-science? Anti-public health?

Animal advocates are not always people advocates. Keep that in mind.
