This Year In Pennsylvania, These Openly LGBTQ Candidates Won Office

A list of openly LGBTQ people who won elected office in Pennsylvania in 2023. Each time I create a post like this, I am humbled to think of how much has changed since I began blogging in December 2005. At that point, an openly gay man won office on Wilkinsburg Council in the 90s, but no one else had successfully done so since. That changed in 2006 with a judicial candidate and in 2007 with a candidate for City Council

I track through the Victory Fund, traditional media, and word of mouth. Please reach out to me with other openly LGBTQ elected who should be included. We will reach out with a request for a Q&A for the permanent record.

More will come. Soon this roundup might be unnecessary. But with a very large commonwealth and a lot of elected offices, we must always remain vigilant.
