How to Request Toys For Tots in Western Pennsylvania 2024

This is our annual (13 years) round-up of Toys for Tots programs in Western Pennsylvania for 2023. I’ve done my best to sort through the available information and provide you what you may need to know. PLEASE click through to the applicable link to double check the details. I will update as information becomes available.

Some registrations began on October 1, 2024 so I moved up my annual post. Please circulate as Toys for Tots may be the only option for our neighbors.

Some of the Toys for Tots pages are harsh and regimented. Others are heavy on Christian themes. Some are pretty respectful and dignified. I wish I could make it more respectful and dignified for everyone. Also, I cannot confirm that these projects are LGBTQ friendly/affirming. Some are affiliated with the Salvation Army or other faith-based organizations. So proceed with that in mind.

One thing I noticed is that most of the projects have cut back hours, enrollment times, toys that will be distributed, etc. A few other things to bear in mind

  • Click through to your county link and triple check the information.
  • If you can find a Facebook page, I suggest liking it and checking regularly

Please share this information with anyone who may need it and share it soon – some counties have cutoff dates in late October. Share in groups, share on pages, share via private email. People need accurate information.

Please note that the Play It Forward project is another option. We’ll do a separate post on their organization. Their distribution is To Be Announced. at the David Lawrence Convention Center. This project CAN be confirmed as LGBTQ welcoming and affirming. If you have items to donate, I very much suggest you consider Play It Forward. Here is their donation page.

When you visit the Toys for Tots websites, you can search by County. Be sure to click on the Request a Toy OR About Toys For Tots > Local and National News links if you don’t see information on the homepage. Poke around to find a phone number or email address.

Allegheny (Northeastern Allegheny, Northwestern Westmoreland and Armstrong Counties)

  • Applications accepted from individuals October 1- November 20, 2024.
  • Once you apply you will need to write down your control number as this will be used for you to check your applcation and to pick up your gifts.
    Please check your email often as emails will be sent with Info. PLEASE only apply once and Only the parents or legal guardian can apply for toys for tots

Allegheny (Southern)

Allegheny (Northwestern) and Beaver counties

  • Enrollment by email.  DEADLINE SINGLE Family Applications will open on September 25, 2023. The goal is to leave them open until November 10, 2024 however that date may change with out notice
  • When filling out an application, you may request a bike.  Doing so, you must provide a size.  Bikes are NOT guarantee.  We will not guess the size.  
  • The age limit is birth to 12 years old. 
  • You must be the biological parent to apply for the child.
  • Pick ups will take place in December and will be a drive thru procedure.   You will need photo ID to pick up your toys.
  • Please e-mail the following complected application (  this can be found here ) your photo ID of some type verification the children are yours….their birth certificates, welfare papers… any type of official papers stating your name with your child name & their birth dates current address section of a bill verifying your name & current address.  Please make sure you include a current phone & an e-mail.
  • Please add a second person as an alternate pick up person.  The alternate person must be submitted on your application.   A note on pick up day will not be accepted.

 Armstrong

Beaver

  • SINGLE Family Applications (click the “request a toy” box)

Bedford

  • Applicants MUST:
    *Be a resident of Bedford County, PA
    *Children must be aged 0 to 14
    *Person applying must have custody of the children and must be present to sign up
    *Attend a sign-up event listed below and provide the following at the time of sign up:
              – Proof of current address
              – Current Identification for adults and children. IDs can include Benefits Verification Form, Student IDs,
                     Birth Certificates, etc. NO Social Security Cards.
              – Documents must be the original. No copies, pictures, or handwritten documents.
    * DO NOT CALL SIGN UP LOCATIONS WITH QUESTIONS.

  • DISTRIBUTION DATES
  • Due to a very high population of those in need, one of the specific dates will be assigned to EACH individual approved application (BY THE LETTER OF YOUR LAST NAME) and will be the only day to pick up your toys. (Please read the reply email, once you’re approved, in its entirety!)

    •  If you have already signed up in person to recieve toys, during the week of November 4-8, 2024, you may pick up your toys on either December 12th, 2024 from 2:00-7:00 or December 13th, 2024 from 11:00-3:00 at the Mercer County Career Center.
    • Community applications will only be taken in person and at the following locations and times: 
    • Monday, November 4, 2024 at CLSV Stey Nevant Branch Library 11am-6pm
    • Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Mercer VFW 432 South Erie Street, Mercer, PA  11am -7pm
    • Thursday, November 7, 2024 at American Legion Post 140, Greenville, PA 11am-7pm

    • You must bring a photo ID and birth certificate or medical card for each child you are signing up from Birth to 12 years old.

    • Children and parents/guardians must reside in Warren County
    • Please bring children’s social security card.  *If you do not have your child’s social security card, there is time to obtain it before the final sign up.*
    • Children’s age limit is 16
    • TOY PICK UP IS SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 8th AND 15th, 9:00-1:00, PER YOUR SIGN UP PAPER AT PENDLETON MARINE CORPS LEAGUE, 2355 JACKSON AVENUE, PHONE: 723-4913.
    • PLEASE REMAIN IN VEHICLE FOR TOY PICKUP. TOYS WILL BE BROUGHT TO YOUR VEHICLE. PLEASE BRING YOUR PICK UP SLIP.
