Urgently Need Volunteer to Help Us Build Our Shed

Getting Pittsburgh LGBTQ Charities (PLC) to a healthy place after my year’s absence has been hard and here is how you can volunteer to help.

Handyperson – Help Us Build Our Shed

Shed to help cats
Finished shed and curreent sittuation

A shed was donated to us, but lack of folx to assemble meant we spent $2700 storing it (and other things.)

Last month, we moved it from storage to the site at Fort Faulsey. Once again we have no one to lead the assembling. We have volunteers to help but no crew chief.

This shed is now over $4700 and still no closer to being built. We could have used the storage fees to hire someone, but who knew?

I keep circling back to folx who offered, but no one is available.

Can you offer to assemble a shed very very soon? We need to level the spit before it’s frozen, buy patio pavers, and build.

A lot of cats won’t be helped because we’ve spent all that money to store a shed. That’s on me. I don’t know what to do. I ask, cajole, plead, beg. Obviously we have no money to pay.

The shed is secured to a building at the colony. I have to look at it every single day when I feed there. I do not think I can go all winter having this albatross literally hanging over me every single day.

Someone out there, please. Put this ridiculously expensive project out of its misery. Or to good use.

Yes, we have parts, instructions, YouTube videos, etc. No electricity so battery powered drills needed.

We just need a foreperson. Might that be you?

Pet Food Pantry Organizing

Gertie’s inaugural run with cat food supplies to be unloaded at the pantry

When we get a lot of donations, we need help carrying them upstairs to the second floor pantry. The building dates to 1900. Plus, there are steps to porch in the first place. A lot of steps. If you are willing to be ‘on-call’ to help haul the wonderful donations up the steps, that would be great. We aim for Fridays or Saturdays. It can be flexible. And it is not every week – unfortunately.

That’s it. Haul bags, cartons, and boxes up the steps, put them next to the pantry. If you feel ambitious and want to help update the inventory, excellent.

Monthly Delivery to Coraopolis/Moon

One of our caretakers is in Coraopolis and does not have a car. She is 80 years old and has a colony with eight cats. So you’d be taking a modest distribution to her home once a month or once every two months. You can just leave it at your convenience.

Please don’t forget the Winter Holiday Pet Food Drive.
