Today’s theme was Maiden, Maven, Crone. Also I’m a Microinfluencer

Today has been a day.

I awoke to find this lovely article in the Pittsburgh Union Progress highlighting our work to help the folx who help the cats and critters.

The pantry is a labor of love for her, named in memory of her lifelong friend John Ruffing, a West Mifflin resident and veterinarian who practiced in that borough, Pleasant Hills and other offices. He died at 41 in 2007.”

People loved Dr. Ruffing because Dr. Ruffing loved their pets.” Kerr wrote on her organization’s website. “Without a doubt, each one was in his heart to the point that the emotional weight of his work was challenging. But he was born to be a vet; he was a modern incarnation of St. Francis of Assisi.”

Then I learned that I am officially a microinfluencer – that’s a real thing – because I now have 10,000+ followers on Instagram. I’m not sure how exactly I’ll micro influence anyone, BUT I am quite proud that the content I create and curate resonates with so many folx.

I have a blog post with all of my socials – pretty much @pghlesbian on every platform.

It was exactly ten years ago that local journalist and writer Marty Levine chose me as one of 16 local social media mavens. Unfortunately the original article is no longer online so you’ll have to take my word for it. I hope I did right by that designation.

Finally, I published a blog post that has taken me a long time to write – the impact of the sexual violence in my family, stemming from my paternal grandmonster. I’ve done a lot of work in therapy, but it isn’t enough to stem the tide of Intergenerational trauma embedded in the essence of who we are – because of the silence, the secret keeping.

I truly believe that the best way for me to say ‘enough’ is to create this record here so that someday the younger generations will have the whole story, at least my version of it to add to whatever their immediate families tell them. And in so doing, I hope to destigmatize these conversations.

I got a zipcar to take my cat to the vet tomorrow – he’s having dental surgery next week. Like most zipcars, this one reeks of marijuana and the little air freshness you hang from the rear view mirror. But it does have seat warmers. Still, I miss Gertie.

Also, I had leftover lasagna in the freezer – win!
