Welcoming Pittsburgh Forum on LGBTQ Refugees

This looks really interesting. Unfortunately, I seem to have some sort of sickness so I don’t think I’ll be able to attend. I also continue to wonder why the City tends to schedule these types of events during the middle of the workweek when so few people can attend. I realize that’s when the employees of Welcoming Pittsburgh are on the clock, but it does seem a little counterproductive.

I also wish City of Asylum was on the panel. Their work with artists is so important and could lend itself to critical conversation.

  • We (Welcoming Pittsburgh) scheduled it then at the request of the Refugee Congress to accommodate their schedule, but we agree with you. Follow up events will be at a better time — we work nights and weekends!

    • Thanks for responding, Betty. I can appreciate schedule constraints, but I urge the City to work through community groups and the Mayor’s Advisory Committee when planning in the future. Congrats on a good event.
