This is really an honor and a testament to what the team across the board at this blog has accomplished over the past 12 years. We’ve been named as one of five finalists in the ‘Outstanding Blog’ category for 29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards.
The GLAAD Media Awards honor media for their fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of the LGBTQ community and the issues that affect their lives. The GLAAD Media Awards also fund GLAAD’s work to accelerate acceptance of the LGBTQ community. The GLAAD Media Awards ceremonies will be held in Los Angeles on April 12, 2018 at The Beverly Hilton, and in New York on May 5 at the New York Hilton Midtown.
A full list of nominees can be found at http://glaad.org/mediaawards/nominees or by following #glaadawards
Other nominees in the ‘Outstanding Blog’ category include TransGriot (Monica Roberts) and My Fabulous Disease (Mark S. King) as well Autostraddle and Gays With Kids.

In a a region without any LGBTQ media resources, it falls to the informal and community resources to raise the visibility and amplify the voices of those who are not invited to the table by mainstream media.
There are a lot of people who have contributed to this nomination and all of our accomplishments.

Former contributors – Sarah, Jamie, Abby, Shelley, Jen, TJ

So, the other important question is which local store will name a sandwich after the blog? I’m hoping my cousins the Graf family at Priory Fine Pastries will at least create a cupcake?
And I can’t help but point out that I’m taking Pittsburgh closer to a national championship than the Steelers or Pirates this year, ha! Kidding, but only a little bit …
