The Prompt – Describe one or more overlooked cultural gems of this region that deserve more visibility. Tell us why.
I pick these two.
Carnegie Stage/Off the wall Productions – Located in Carnegie, a Pittsburgh suburb, this powerhouse theater company centers productions written by, directed by, and starring women. The theater is very comfortable, accessible, and has plenty of free parking. Tickets are affordable. The plays will make you feel and think and reexamine your entire relationship with theater and performance arts.
Waterworks Cinema – I love this small chain of theaters. They have the big comfy chairs that recline. They have reservations. They don’t fuss if you ‘sneak’ in an outside beverage you just purchased elsewhere in the shopping complex. And the parking lot is both free and ample. They are not investing my movie money in Roy Moore. And it takes about 15 minutes to get there from our home, comparable with the other theaters in town.
