When I saw that Rick Santorum’s team has come up with a sweater vest fundraiser to raise a million dollars, I rolled my eyes. I’m not anti-sweater vest, but it is a little … dull?
Then I saw the two mottos of the project
“Don’t let sleeves slow you down.”
“Second Amendment vest: the right to bare arms.”
<not sure if I should groan, sigh or go lie down for a few minutes>
Now Santorum’s voting record on affordable housing and heating assistance programs hasn’t been all bad, but let’s just stop and consider the irony that he’s been promoting the elimination of food stamps while touting a whimsical campaign to go sleeveless in January. In New Hampshire. It probably isn’t funny to people who are wondering how they will pay the heat bill. Or burying their relative who used a stove to keep themselves warm. Or those in Alaska digging out from 18 feet of snow.
I think it is silliness.
Now here is where ace communications go-to-gay Rob Traynham could actually help Rick create a good message to sell sweaters (see how I work in his actual skill as a communications guy with the tongue-in-cheek reference to gay men being fashionistas?)
I wonder if the PA Cyber Charter School has official sweater vests? You know to raise money to provide scholarships to Senators.
