I was quite pleased a few weeks ago when Nina with Most Wanted Fine Art approached me to participate in an art project. The concept is very close to my heart – participating artists are lending their skills to support the eye health of local artists. MWFA is teaming up with Penn Avenue Eyewear for this effort.
ArtisticVisionPGH will exhibit the work of 32 established artists including 15 pairs of hand customized artistic wooden sunglass frames. The frames will only be available through silent auction on Sept 12, 2014. All sales benefit the charities “Healthy Artists” and “Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation”.
In addition all the participating artists have been provided either a pair of PAE prescription glasses or sunglasses, including me. I’ll profile participating artists with my usual whimsical Q&A format as my contribution and sharing more information on the sponsoring organizations, as well as vision health.
Yesterday, I stopped by Most Wanted Fine Art at The Waterfront (near Starbucks) to get my official project portrait, record a little video bio and participate in a PSA on eye health. With a better “vision” of the project, I then came home and approached the Pennsylvania Health Access Network to participate. Always the activist as Ledcat would say.
This year I learned that I need bifocals. Now I’ve been wearing glasses for 39 years so this shouldn’t have thrown me, but I felt like I aged ten years overnight.
Save the date for the eyewear auction. And be sure to follow #ArtisticVisionPGH for the latest news.
