Enter For a Chance To Win an Annie Prize Pack

I loved the 1982 film version of Annie – I was 11 years old and watched it dozens of times when it hit cable. It was so romantic to a preteen in the way that singing orphans in a Depression Era setting can only be. I was enchanted by the old-timeyness of it, the songs, and the fact that the dashing heroes saved the little girls. I was 11 after all.

Annie is the perfect movie for a reboot and an update. Now that I’ve actually worked in child welfare and with kids in multiple capacities, I am looking forward to how the screenwriters update the story. I’ve been horrified by the racist comments regarding the casting of Quvenzhané Wallis who appears to be an eminently qualified young actor. Annie is a very universal story which is a sad reflection on how many children do not have permanent families, not the authenticity of a red-headed child.

Enter for a chance to win an Annie Prize Pack including a Sandy plush, t-shirt and poster!

Columbia Pictures presents

Annie

Academy Award® nominee Quvenzhané Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) stars as Annie, a young, happy foster kid who’s also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014. Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they’d be back for her someday, it’s been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). But everything’s about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) – advised by his brilliant VP, Grace (Rose Byrne) and his shrewd and scheming campaign advisor, Guy (Bobby Cannavale) – makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in. Stacks believes he’s her guardian angel, but Annie’s self-assured nature and bright, sun-will-come-out-tomorrow outlook on life just might mean it’s the other way around. Annie has been rated PG by the MPAA for some mild language and rude humor.

Annie opens in theaters everywhere December 19!
