#NaBloPoMo

What do you want to say to Hillary Clinton today? This today’s prompt. I committed to respond to the prompts so here I am, staring at my laptop. I have nothing to say. I feel no defiance, no hope, no peace. Just fear and anxiety. Hillary tried. She didn’t fail – we failed. And she’ll […]

One Day in the Life of Susan Kerr #NaBloPoMo

If you could redo one moment in your life, what would it be and why? How would it change who you are now? For me, regret isn’t tied up to one single pivotal moment. It is more a cascade of memories that starts perhaps with dropping out of graduate school (the first time around) and […]

Vi, 24, Is Very Concerned About Trans Health Issues in Pittsburgh #AMPLIFY

Trans Pittsburgh

How would you describe yourself NOW in terms of “being out”? I’m personally very open about my sexuality and my gender identity. I will say that being trans is so much harder than being bi. I never want to look masculine in public or private in any way, and would probably live in stealth if I was visually able. I have struggled more after coming out as trans and living my life than I have ever before. It’s extremely disheartening to get turned down from every job since, and be stared at every day.

Remember the Bread #NaBloPoMo

Today’s Prompt: What was your worst Thanksgiving food fail? My head is filled with all of the big things today, so I was tempted to skip this prompt and write about something important. Then I remembered that Thanksgiving dinner is my favorite meal of the year so of course it is an important prompt. Plus, I really […]

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Can’t Pick Their Preferred Presidential Candidate So They Took Their Blocks and Went Home

When I read that the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette was refusing to endorse a candidate in the Presidential election, opting instead to publish a “voting guide” that is absurdly biased and inaccurate, I was swallowing bile while trying to find the words to explain the situation to Lecat. The jokes and the hideous screams of outrage just […]

My Friend Dave Turns Out To Be My (Sixth) Cousin #NaBloPoMo

Cousins

The most exciting update to my genealogy hobby is the discovery that my actual friend, Dave Ninehouser, is in fact my sixth cousin. Dave is an awesome guy. He’s very progressive, likes animals, treats his wife with respect and appreciation, works food drives into lots of his efforts and intentionally relocated from Pittsburgh to Ambridge, […]
