Ruffing DVM Pet Food Projects, memorializing one of her very best friends who died in 2007. In 2021, Sue worked with community leaders to develop and establish a 501c3 nonprofit organization, Pittsburgh LGBTQ Charities (PLC) where she currently serves as Board President. Her own experiences with cPTSD, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and other health challenges have fueled her health blogging and activism. The blog regularly reviews arts and cultural events as well as exploring restaurants, soap opera storylines, and hyper-local news. Sue and her wife Laura have been together since 2003. They were married on a very cold February 2, 2021 in their backyard at a very small ceremony co-officiated by their pagan priestess friend, Anne, and then-Mayor Bill Peduto. They have six niblings, four in Pittsburgh and two in Philadelphia.

Who is lesbian comedian Poppy Champlin? PghLesbian will have the scoop …

I emailed Poppy to ask for an interview and she agreed.  Also, we plan to sit down soon with Lance Friedman, co-chair for Steel City Stonewall Democrats and discuss all the changes since founding board member Scott Safier has moved on to other things (and out of state).  Should be an interesting chat in both […]

Where Oh Where Have the Lesbians Gone? Where Or Where Could They Be?

Where Oh Where Have the Lesbians Gone? Where Or Where Could They Be?

Fear not!  I was on vacation last week, but spent my time cleaning out my empty house and preparing for the arrival of Pittsburgh's newest lesbian, B.  I inhaled enough dust, cleaning fluid and spider webs to bring down the mightiest of women, but persevered in the knowledge that I could spend this week going […]

Big Lesbian Shout Out to All the Friends of Dana Edwards, She of the White House and Southside’s Chocolate Celebrations

Timing, as they say, is everything. Just Saturday night, my lover and I took a stroll through the Southside to our favorite Cambodian restaurant and passed by a local confectionary called Chocolate Celebrations and the Milkshake Factory.  You may recall a certain Post-Gazette article fawning over two certain members of this family owned business, siblings […]

Suzie McConnnell-Serio to replace Rene Portland? And what does JoePa think?

The PG's Bob Smizik takes Penn State to task for allowing Portland to ride roughshod over university standards, policies and common decency. It's not like the Harris incident was the first against Portland. She had a long and documented history on the subject. As far back as 1986, Portland was quoted making an anti-lesbian statement. […]
