Q&A with Lisa Middleman, Candidate for Court of Common Pleas

Lisa Middleman

Choose people who have demonstrated, throughout their careers, a dedication to the work that you feel is important and empathy and compassion for those who are impacted by the legal system. Candidates who have demonstrated a willingness to be involved in discussions about ways to improve the legal system, those who have been of service […]

Political Q&A With Candidates Who Don’t Follow Through With the LGBTQIA+ Community

Political Q&A

For several years, I have published a Q&A series with candidates for all sorts of offices. Some people approach me and I try to create an open invitation to candidates who meet the criteria of being an LGBTQ ally running for office in Pennsylvania. Each Q&A is hand-crafted so to speak to dive into issues […]

Q&A with Laura Pollanen, Candidate for Bellevue Borough Council

LGBTQ folx are everywhere, and we’re not going away. By taking office, we can push not just legislation to ensure our legal rights are protected, but also push for normalizing what are seen as LGBTQ+ issues until your LGBTQ+ identity is as unremarkable as your hair color. I want to make it clear that […]

Q&A with Cheryl Patalano, Candidate for Northgate School Board of Directors

I am all for reforming the way charter schools source and use their money.  Paying charter schools is the biggest drain on public schools.  I am for school choice because there will always be situations where a public school is not the right fit for an individual student, but destroying public schools in the process […]

Q&A with Robert Disney, Candidate for Bellevue Borough Council

Legally changing one’s name should be an exciting, uplifting, hopeful, and ceremonious occasion, not one clouded by uncertainty caused by the legal process or the worry of the perception of others in the courtroom, and my goal is to be a resource and ally for anyone in this position. This is the 11th post of […]

Guest Blog Post: When Pittsburgh’s LGBTQ Community Tried to Warn of Rick Santorum’s Bigoted Politics in the early 1990’s

Santorum Gay Community

Guest Blog Post by Billy Hileman. Santorum’s pathetic white supremacist rant that erased the archaeological evidence that 50-60 million people lived on the two continents that white people later named N and S America, was surely harmful. CNN should fire Santorum and promise that they will not employ other white supremacists. We knew Santorum was […]

Three Black Trans Women Were Murdered Between April 21-24

Black Trans Women Murdered

It’s been an especially brutal few days in an already harsh year. Three Black trans women were murdered in a 72 hour span. Tiara Banks, 24, was shot multiple times while sitting in her car in a Chicago neighborhood. There’s very little detail available about Tiara’s life – no social media mentions, etc. Tiffany Thomas, […]
